Why should I install a gas tank?
The most common reasons are the autonomy of the installation, convenience and the price of gas.
Convenience and autonomy
Installations with bottles usually have a limited autonomy of one or two weeks in the winter period due to space constraints on the bottles. This means that we have to call the distribution company to change the bottles, with its well-known drawbacks. The installation of a gas tank is usually filled between one and three times a year depending on the consumption of the household. This is why, for a medium or large-sized single-family home with central heating, it is the best solution for the convenience of the owner.
Price of gas
The price of 35 kg Propane gas cylinders (industrial cylinders or the large ones colloquially known) is a price that is not regulated and therefore they are usually more expensive per kilo than the kilo of bulk gas in a gas tank. To this we must add that the cylinders are returned with around 10% of the load since the evaporation of the gas is not able to occur until they are completely used up. Therefore, as a minimum, the price of gas in a tank usually translates into at least 10% cheaper than that of 35 kg Propane cylinders.
Are gas tanks safe?
The installation of a gas tank, contrary to what some people think, is as safe or safer than that of bottles. As it is an installation registered in the industry government department and checked by external agents before its commissioning, these are well controlled installations. To this we must add that the maintenance company will make an annual visit to check the installation, while the bottles are only checked every five years and at the request and responsibility of the client or owner of the installation.
